Day 5

Watch out, Sydney - we have arrived, beanies and all!

We set out from Jindabyne at 8am and took a leisurely five hour bus ride to Sydney. We hopped on a ferry and cruised the harbour with magnificent views of the the Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Sydney icon - beanie, bridge or Opera House?

The snow was an amazing experience on Wednesday. The first half hour was hard work and I was not sure about going down the J-bar run until Will pushed me. The blue run was very steep and fast but I able to ski down without crashing or falling. Sebastian
I enjoyed the harbour cruise and I was a bit seasick but I still had fun. I also enjoyed watching a man in the park feed a flock of seagulls. Wisal
We were on song at the Opera House

I enjoyed the cruise on the harbour and learned a lot from the lady commentating about the harbour. I will sleep very well tonight because I ate a lot of food, especially pizza at the food court. Alexia
I loved going on the harbour cruise because whenever you stood up on the top deck you swayed around and it felt like you were on a rollercoaster. I also enjoyed looking at the history of Sydney Harbour. Kathleen
Going to Sydney for the first time was very exciting and being able to go on the harbour cruise was fantastic. Jessica
I sent spent most of the five hour trip to Sydney sleeping but I was rewarded with seeing Sydney for the first time. I saw beautiful views of Sydney harbour cruise. I will remember this day as one of the highlights of the trip. Sanchia
Mr Beiers' group - the "Prime Ministers"!
I enjoyed the five-hour trip to Sydney because it was funny watching Sanchia sleeping. Unfortunately I didn’t get any pictures. On the harbour cruise Alexia was asking about the height of the ship to the water as she had threatened to throw me in. Emma
Today when we were going to Sydney by bus we watched some movies to keep us entertained and after the movies I fell asleep for one hour. I enjoyed the cruise on the harbour but almost died when the wind blew my beanie off. Luckily I caught it. We did a flash mob but it was a little awkward because we had no music. Victor
Ok - there it is - the photo with our beanies!
Look what I bought with my money!

Today I thoroughly enjoyed going to the food court and spending all the money with my friends to buy lots of food! I also liked the view of the city at night as we walked along the harbour. Josh W
I was thrilled when I saw the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge for the first time. I got very seasick on the harbour cruise and I can’t wait to see you tomorrow. Love you all.  Elissa
Are we there yet?????

  11. Dear Travellers,

Man, that must have been a fun-filled bus trip with all those teachers asleep! Glad you made it to Sydney OK without Mrs Peasey's superior navigating skills... she's a whiz on that iPhone! Speaking of which, we'll have to work on your cinematography skills next term, Mr Leeson. ....Although the selfie on skis was terribly impressive! Very art house.

Have a wonderful return trip everyone. You're obviously all very sorely missed at home - quite understandable of course! Now don't you believe any siblings who try to tell you otherwise! You'll all be tired after an action-packed and exciting week with friends and wonderful teachers. There's going to be some adjusting to do as you settle back into normality. Just remember how much your families have missed you and how patiently they've waited to hear your Canberra/Sydney stories first hand. SOME of us have to wait until next term... aarrggghhh!

    Until then,
    Safe and happy holidays,
    Mrs M

PS Mr Leeson the BLOGGER???? Who would've thought? What an AMAZING achievement, Mrs P!!

  13. Hi Seb,
It was good to read a brief comment about your time in the snow, it sounds like you had fun.
Looking at all the photos that have been posted, it appears you've all been very lucky to have great weather. I hope you've enjoyed Sydney and ate up big last night, it sounds like you've had some great food away, well unfortunately it's back to home cooked meals soon.

It was good to see some video footage of a few of you while skiing, great job. Mr Leeson with skill like that you could get a job as a camera man on the "Wide World Of Sports".

I't sounds like the teachers will need to come home for some rest and relaxation after all that fun.

Enjoy the last few hours of your adventure and we'll see you at the airport tonight.

Love, Dad, Mum and Laura xxx
